HourTile Privacy Policy
Effective: November 3, 2026
This policy explains what HourTile stores, what it sends and what you can control.
On your devices
- The hours you paint, your notes, summaries and tiles are stored on your iPhone, in the app’s storage shared with its widgets, and copied to your paired Apple Watch over Apple’s WatchConnectivity. They are not sent to us or to anyone else.
- If you allow it, HourTile reads your calendar events and Health data (sleep and workouts) to draft hours. It only reads, never writes, and this data is not sent anywhere.
- If you turn on the evening reminder, the notification is scheduled locally on your iPhone.
Usage analytics
HourTile uses PostHog (PostHog Inc., hosted in the United States) to understand which features people use. For people in the EU/EEA, UK and Switzerland, the transfer to the US is covered by PostHog’s data processing agreement and Standard Contractual Clauses.
- What’s sent: anonymous events such as “app opened”, “painted 3 hours”, “opened the timeline”, “shared to WhatsApp”, plus technical details the analytics library adds: app version, iOS version, device model, language, time zone and screen size. PostHog also works out your approximate country (and continent) from your internet connection; the internet address itself is discarded and no city, postal code or finer location is stored. Each install gets a random identifier that isn’t linked to your name, email, Apple ID or any other app.
- What’s never sent or stored: your notes or summaries, the names of your own tiles, your dates or hours, any calendar or Health data, your internet address, and any location finer than your country.
- Your choice: in the EU/EEA, the UK and Switzerland (judged from your App Store country, your iPhone’s region or your time zone; any one is enough), analytics stays off until you agree. Nothing is sent until HourTile has checked this. Everywhere else it’s on, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings ▸ Usage ▸ Share usage analytics. Turning it off stops sending immediately.
- We don’t use this data for advertising and don’t sell or share it.
- The legal basis in the EU/UK is your consent, which you can withdraw in Settings.
Feedback
If you use Send feedback, your email app opens with a message to us; nothing is sent unless you send it. We use what you write only to reply and improve the app.
Sharing
When you share a day, HourTile makes an image and hands it to the app you choose (for example Instagram, WhatsApp or Messages) or saves it to Photos. What happens next is governed by that app’s policy. HourTile only adds images to Photos and never reads your library.
Backups
Your data is included in your device’s own iCloud or computer backup if you have those turned on.
Deleting your data
Deleting HourTile from your iPhone and Apple Watch deletes all of its data on your devices. Settings ▸ Usage ▸ Reset analytics ID switches to a new random identifier, and turning analytics off does the same. To ask us to delete events already sent, email us from Send feedback; we’ll delete them.
Children
HourTile isn’t directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will appear on this page with a new effective date.
